These co-parenting fights are hard to avoid

When co-parenting, you do your best to avoid arguments with your ex-spouse. You had enough of these during your marriage, so the last thing you want is to go down this path in the future.

Unfortunately, despite your best efforts, co-parenting fights are hard to avoid. These have a way of coming to light time and time again.

Here are five co-parenting fights to watch out for:

  • Pick-up and drop-off time: When exchanging custody, it's imperative to be on time. Even if you're only a few minutes late, your ex-spouse may turn it into an argument.
  • Holidays: Everyone wants to spend the holidays with their children. Protect against this with a parenting agreement and discussing your arrangement far in advance.
  • Lack of parenting: You think your parenting method is right, while the other parent disagrees. You need to find common ground to avoid this fight time and time again.
  • Lack of communication: Clear communication is a must. It doesn't matter if you text, talk on the phone or meet in person, you need to communicate clearly to avoid co-parenting fights.
  • House rules: Every parent has their own house rules, but you should do your best to stay on the same page. Talk to your ex about their house rules, so you can implement those that are similar.

Even though these co-parenting fights are hard to avoid, you can do so with the right approach.

As you begin to avoid child custody disputes, you'll come to find that it's easier to enjoy every minute you spend with your children after your divorce.
