High-asset divorce reaches $13.4 million settlement

On Behalf of | Jan 6, 2016 | Divorce

After six years and legal battles in both Florida and Nova Scotia, the divorce between model Lisa Armoyan and real estate mogul Vrege Armoyan has finally been settled. According to reports, Lisa was awarded close to $13.4 million. The couple had been married for 16 years and had three children together prior to ending their relationship. The case was one for the record books with the family, civil and criminal courts involved to some degree at different times.

One of the main issues at the center of the legal battle was Vrege’s failure to pay child support. Reports indicate that he attempted to evade a child support order for $1.7 million. A judge in Nova Scotia had sentenced him to four years in prison for the offense, but reports indicated that the case was settled so that he would serve no actual jail time.

Lawyers for the couple have indicated that neither party can comment on the settlement as part of the terms, but that they came to an agreement that “satisfies all outstanding issues.” It was reported that the lump sum payment of $13.4 million to Lisa was just one part of the entire divorce agreement.

The settlement comes after Lisa’s remarriage earlier this year and shows just how long it can take to work through all of the various aspects of a divorce, especially when there are high-value assets at stake. These types of divorces often take quite a bit of compromise on both parties parts, but it’s also important that the settlement be fair. Talking with a family law attorney about what you are entitled to under the law can help you know where to draw the line.
