Rapper ordered to pay $7,000 monthly in child support

For divorcing couples in the Miami, Florida, area, issues related to children are often the most emotional, drawn out part of the process. In many cases, both parents are fighting for what they think is best for their kids. In some cases, one parent is fighting to ensure another is held responsible financially. Outside of the state, a performing artist and movie actor was ordered by a judge to make full payments on requested child support to the mother of his infant child.

According to reports, Ludacris fathered a child with another woman while he and his girlfriend were taking a break from each other. The woman claimed in court that the rapper had not seen the child since it was born. The judge granted the woman full custody of the child.

Ludacris originally stated in court documents that he could only afford paying $1,800 per month in child support, despite the fact that he reported an average income of $25,842 a month. The rapper said that his income was negatively impacted by the death of Paul Walker, which held up the production of the "Fast and Furious" series that Ludacris was involved in. Additionally, the rapper had not released a solo album for several years.

The judge ruled that Ludacris was responsible for the total child support amount, which was $7,000 per month. He also ordered the rapper to make a one-time payment of $35,000 and cover the court costs for the mother of his child. According to reports, following the judgment, Ludacris returned to Dubai for work on the next "Fast and Furious" installment.

Though most Miami individuals aren't discussing child support payments as large as the rapper's, it's important to understand legal rights and options when seeking payment from a spouse who challenges demands. It's equally important to have that understanding when dealing with what you consider over-the-top demands from a spouse.
